Wisconsin International University College Launches BSc Midwifery & Community Health Nursing programmes

Wisconsin has become the first institution in the country to offer the BSc. Community Health Nursing degree programme. The University College has also received a license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana to run the BSc. Midwifery programme. Prospective students may apply for the January/February 2022 semester.

The BSc Community Health Nursing programme is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast, while the BSc Midwifery programme is affiliated to the University of Development Studies.

Wisconsin has recruited seasoned lecturers and midwifery and nursing practitioners who will provide students with outstanding theoretical knowledge based on current research, trends and developments in healthcare.

Students will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in one of the most modern nursing skills laboratories in the country. They will also undergo practicals in clinics and hospitals.

Ms Angela Acheampong, Acting Dean of the School of Nursing at Wisconsin International University College, Ghana said: “The BSc. Midwifery and Community Health Nursing programmes would boost the skills base of nurses who are needed to serve in the fields of midwifery and preventive health. Graduates can use the skills acquired in both the private and public sectors to improve maternal, child and public health in Ghana.

She added: “Senior High School graduates and practicing junior nurses should take advantage of this golden opportunity to improve themselves and the human resource capacity of the health sector in this country and the world at large.”
