The University of Ghana hereby, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Director, University Health Services, to take effect from 1st August.

POSITION:           Director, University Health Services

REPORTING TO:   Registrar


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Health Services shall be responsible for the overall management of the University Hospital and its satellite clinics.

The successful applicant shall be responsible for:

a.  Ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of health services to members of the University and their families;
b.  The supervision of health workers;
c.  The procurement of drugs, hospital equipment and other goods and services needed for the efficient operation of the University Health Services;
d.  Planning and monitoring the development of the University Hospital and its health programmes;
e.  Ensuring that the University Hospital provides regular health services to the adjoining communities;
f.  Advising, educating and monitoring health matters; and,
g.  The discharge of any other assignments that the Registrar shall deem necessary.


QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate should be medically qualified with at least 15 years post qualification experience.  The candidate must be in good standing with the Medical and Dental Council, Ghana.  Evidence of management skills or experience would be an advantage.

Skills and Abilities

•   Excellent administrative, analytical and supervisory skills;
•   Proficient in the use of computing for health management;
•   Considerable strategic, interpersonal and collegial skills that will enable the candidate function within the Higher Education Sector;
•   Good business sense with a deep understanding and appreciation of the strategic and operational issues in top-level University management and administration; and,
•   Should be very conversant with the Ghana Health Services Act and Ghana Health Insurance Scheme.


TENURE
The person appointed Director, University Health Services, shall hold office for a period of four years and is eligible for re-appointment.

i.  Completed application form for Senior Level Administrative Positions (UAB Form 1C) to be downloaded from the University’s website at https://www.ug.edu.gh/hrodd;

ii. An up to date Curriculum Vitae and copies of relevant academic and/or   professional certificates; and,

iii. A statement of about 2,500 words (not more than five pages) indicating how one intends to use the period in office to address relevant issues that will ensure that the University achieves its mission and vision.
