The University of Mines and Technology’s newly established School of Railway and Infrastructure Development (SRID) Campus at Essikado, Sekondi-Takoradi is set to welcome its first batch of students on 15th January.

The SRID Campus was established under the auspices of Ghana’s Ministry of Railways Development, following a partnership with the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa in May 2018. 

The SRID, which was formerly the Railway Training School under the Ghana Railways Company Limited, has been transformed and is currently mandated to train and provide quality human resources for Ghana’s rejuvenated railways industry.

Beginning this 2020/2021 academic year, the following programmes are set to kick-start at the SRID, Essikado Campus:

1.         BSc Mechanical Engineering

2.         BSc Electrical and Electronic Engineering

3.         BSc Computer Science and Engineering

4.         BSc Geomatic Engineering

5.         BSc Geological Engineering

6.         BSc Environmental and Safety Engineering

The BSc/Diploma Railways Engineering and some additional programmes such as Transportation Management, Locomotive Engineering, Signalling and Telecommunications Systems, Railways Planning and Operations will be introduced at the Campus in due course.
