Members of the University community and the general public are hereby invited to the Opening Ceremony of the Second Biennial Africa Regional Conference of the International Communication Association (ICA), being hosted by the School of Information and Communication Studies in collaboration with ICA, the largest International Association of Communication Researchers.

Theme “African Digital Cultures: Emerging Research, Practices and Innovations”

Date: 7th – 9th November 2018

Time for Opening Ceremony: 9:00 am, (7th Nov. 2018)

Venue: Bank of Ghana Auditorium, University of Ghana

The Keynote Address for the Opening Ceremony will be delivered by the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Alhaji Dr. Muhamadu Bawumia.

The Conference is premised on the understanding that digital technology, fuelled by rising internet penetration, has become an inherent part of contemporary African life. It is rapidly changing how governance is conducted and how people on the continent communicate with one another, produce and consume goods and services, enact citizenship and construct narratives about themselves. As communication scholars we seek to understand new configurations in the communication, information and media landscape resulting from digitalization that provoke new questions and challenge old assumptions about mediated communication practices.

All are cordially invited
