Takoradi Technical University inaugurates Appeals Board

 

 

 

 

 

 

Takoradi Technical University in accordance with provisions in the Technical University Act 922 has held a ceremony to inaugurate an Appeals Board to help in dispute resolution.

The Board which is chaired by Justice Stephen Herbert Ocran, a retired High Court Judge will assist direct the path of the Council, Management and the Academic Board of the university as it seek to building effective and efficient pillars of growth for the university.

Inaugurating the Board, the Council Chairperson, Dr. Mrs. Henrietta Abane indicated that the Board will among other things act on matters bordering on Act of omission in conventions with TU Act and the Statutes and breach of employment contracts.

Others responsibilities according her included promotion of persons duly employed as well as grievances by staff and students relating to welfare and disciplinary issues.

Dr. Mrs. Abane charged the Board to be diligent, fair and firm in their decision regardless of the persons involved.

She again revealed that the university entrust supreme confidence in their abilities and capabilities and hoped that they would bring their varied expertise to bear on their work in order to build a university of repute in the country.

On his part, the Board Chairman, Justice Stephen Herbert Ocran assured the Council that they would work to uphold the Constitution, the TU Act and the Statutes of the university to bring peace and tranquility in the community.

He therefore called on the Council to intensify education on the various sources of documents governing the university in order to avert unnecessary litigation.

He also pledged the support of his colleagues in the discharge of their duties.

Other members of the Board includes Lawyer Kwamina Ollenu Amponsah-Dadzie an astute legal practition, Nana Yamfua Amua-Sekyi. The rest were Madam Margaret Boadiwaa Lemaire and Nana Brempong Yaw V, chief of Effia.
