Kumasi Technical University New Programme : Higher National Diploma (HND) in Interior Design and Technology

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for admission to a Weekend Version of Higher National Diploma in Interior Design and Technology organized by the Department of Interior Design and Materials Technology of KsTU.

BRIEF BACKGROUND OF THE PROGRAMME

The Weekend Version of Higher National Diploma in Interior Design and Technology organized by the Department of Interior Design and Materials Technology has become necessary due to the expression of interest by some workers in the wood industries to have the opportunity of studying whiles working.
This programme will be run on competency based training (CBT) models which will be conducted on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays only). The programme will prepare students specifically for the labour market and will takes cognizance of the national human resource needs and aspirations for the tertiary wood processing industries and the housing sectors.

STUDENTS’ ADMISSION, PROGRESSION AND GRADUATION

To be admitted into Weekend Version of Higher National Diploma in Interior Design and Technology, a candidate must satisfy the minimum University and the Department of Interior Design and Materials Technology entry requirements.

STUDENTS ADMISSION AND ITS EQUIVALENCE

SSSCE/ WASSCE holders who have credits (A-D/ A1-C6 respectively) in the following Three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credits (A-D/ A1-C6 respectively) in Three (3) Elective Subjects with an Aggregate Score of 24/36 respectively or better in the relevant Area of Study (Including Technical Drawing & Engineering Science, Building Construction,  Woodwork, Metalwork, Clothing, Textiles and Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Geography, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Elective Mathematics option).

OR

TECHNICAL INSTITUTE CANDIDATES who have passes in all courses in Intermediate and Advanced Certificate in Woodwork/Carpentry/Joinery/Creative Art OR Passes in Carpentry and Joinery Technician Part I & II Certificate or Furniture Design and Construction Part II Certificate WITH Credits (A-D/ A1-C6 respectively) in the following Three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science.

OR

MATURE STUDENTS who have attained the age of 25 years or above at the time of Application and have credits in Five (5) GCE ‘O Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics, and must have two (2) years relevant professional experience (A letter / testimonial from employer is required as evidence of working experience in addition to passing an Entrance Examination and / or Interview.

PROGRESSION AND GRADUATION

The programme is in blocks / modules which will be assessed at the end of each block / module. A candidate must pass all required courses to satisfy him for the award of Higher National Diploma (HND) in Interior Design and Technology.
