Koforidua Technical University wishes to inform all prospective students and the general public that Application Forms for Admission to the following programmes for the Academic Year are now on sale:

4-YEAR BACHELOR OF TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMMES

  1. Bachelor of Technology in Mechatronics
  2. Bachelor of Technology in Automotive Engineering
  3. Bachelor of Technology in Food Technology

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR 4-YEAR B.TECH PROGRAMMES   

i) SSSCE Applicants

Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; and must possess three (3) passes in relevant elective subjects. The cumulative aggregate must be 24 or better.

ii) WASSCE Applicants

Credit passes (A1-C6) in three core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; and must possess three (3) credit passes (A1-C6) in three relevant elective subjects.  The cumulative aggregate must be 18 or better.

(iii) GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Level Applicants

Applicants must possess six (6) GCE ‘O’ Level passes including English Language, Mathematics plus three (3) GCE ‘A’ Level passes in the relevant courses.

iv) Applicants from Technical Institutions

Applicants from Technical Institutes must possess passes in Mathematics, English Language, and Integrated Science plus passes in relevant elective courses.

Applicants from Technical Institutes with the requisite elective passes without passes in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science may be admitted to a two (2) month intensive bridging (pre-degree) programme before formal admission to their programmes of choice after passing the selection examination.

v) HND Applicants

  • Higher National Diploma with the requisite specialization will enroll at level 300.
  • Applicants with a university Diploma in the relevant subjects will enroll at level 300.
  • Ordinary Technical Diploma (OTD) will enroll at level 200.

vi) Applicants with Technician Certificate

Applicants with passes in Motor Vehicle Technicians II (MVT II) may also be considered for admission and will be enrolled at Level 200.

Applicants with passes in Motor Vehicle Technicians III (MVT III) may also be considered for admission and will be enrolled at Level 300.

vii)  Mature Applicants

  • Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old at the time of application and must show proof of age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which should be five (5) years old at the time of application. If the birth certificate is less than (5) years, the applicant must add an affidavit. The applicant in addition must add any valid National ID card.
  • Must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by Koforidua Technical University.
  • Applicants within the field of Engineering must have obtained a pass at MET I, MVT I, EET I, CTC I
  • GCE ‘O’ Level, SSSCE/WASSSCE Applicants must have obtained passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any two subjects in a related field of specialization.
  • Must have at least one year of working experience in a related field (A letter from the employer is required as evidence of working experience).

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE COLLABORATION PROGRAMMES

  1. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE (2 YEAR TOP-UP PROGRAMME) (in collaboration with Valley View University)
  • HND holders with at least second class lower division in Information Technology or related fields OR
  • Other Diploma qualifications in Information Technology and related fields

  1. Holders of Higher National Diploma in a specified field obtained from accredited/recognized institutions
  2. Holders of Higher National Diploma in a particular field transferring from similar programmes run at accredited/recognized institutions should have a one (1) year working experience.
  • Holders of University Diploma certificates from accredited Universities and Professional Diploma certificates are eligible to apply
  1. Other qualifications that are equivalent to Higher National Diploma, Construction Technicians Certificate III & II), (CTC III (New)), CTC II (Old), Mechanical Engineering Technician III (MET III), Electrical Engineering Technician III (EET III), Motor Vehicle Technician III (EET III), Advance Diploma among others).

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR HND PROGRAMMES

SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS

  • SSSCE Candidates: Passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and must possess a minimum of D in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.
  • WASSCE Candidates: Passes (A1-D7) in three (3) core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and must possess a minimum of C6 in any three (3) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization.
  • Alternatively, SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants with passes (A-D)/(A1-C6) in three core subjects namely English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies; and a minimum of D/C6 in any two (2) of the passes relevant to the area of specialization are eligible to apply.

GBCE/ ‘O’/A’LEVEL/ABCE APPLICANTS

Five (5) GBCE /GCE‘O’-Level credit passes (including English Language and Mathematics) plus at least two (2) GCE ‘A’ level/ABCE passes excluding General Paper.

  • APPLICANTS FROM TECHNICAL SCHOOLS (CERTIFICATE II APPLICANTS)

Applicants must have passed in three (3) subjects including English Language and Mathematics and Integrated Science plus three (3) relevant elective subjects/trade courses.

DBS APPLICANTS

Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English and Mathematics plus at least three (3) passes in relevant DBS subjects.

TEACHER’S CERTIFICATE.

Applicant must have a Three-Year Post-Secondary Certificate or Four Year Certificate ‘A’ with a minimum of two (2) years teaching experience, plus three (3) GCE O-Level or SSSCE/WASSCE passes in relevant elective subjects.

MATURE APPLICANTS

  • Applicants must be twenty-five (25) years old at the time of application and must show proof of age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth which should be five (5) years old at the time of application. If the birth certificate is less than (5) years, the applicant must add an affidavit. The applicant in addition must add any valid National ID card.
  • Must pass a written test in English Language, Mathematics and General Knowledge to be conducted by Koforidua Technical University.
  • Mature Applicants are informed that this years’ first batch of mature entrance examinations will be conducted online and they have been scheduled for Saturday, 28th and Sunday, 29th of August, 2021. Subsequent batches of the entrance examinations will be conducted after the above-stated dates.

  • Junior High School Graduates with knowledge and skills in Dressmaking
  1. Advanced Fashion Design and Textiles:-2-Year
  • Holders of City and Guilds Certificate in Fashion & Designing (Dressmaking and Tailoring) Or
  • Intermediate Dressmaking/Fashion Certificate plus at least one (1) year relevant practical experience Or
  • Four (4) passes in SSSCE/WASSCE subjects including English Language, Mathematics and any other elective subjects plus basic knowledge and skills in Dressmaking Or
  • Four (4) passes in GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language Mathematics plus knowledge in Dressmaking.
  1. Construction Technician Certificate (CTC) Part I
  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English, Mathematics and Technical Drawing.
  • Technical Construction option Subjects: Craft (B/C, C/J, P/D, and Plumbing) and Advanced (B/C, C/J, P/D, and Plumbing.)
  • Passes in General Course in Construction (GCC)
  1. Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET) Part I
  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English, Mathematics and Science
  • Technical Option Subjects: Engineering Crafts, Intermediate General Engineering (GE), MECP
    • Technical Option Subjects: MVM, Intermediate General Engineering (GE)
  1. Electrical Engineering Technician (EET) Part I
  • Four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes including English, Mathematics and Science and any two of the following – Applied Electricity/Electronics, Physics, Mathematics.
  1. Catering Certificate II – 2years
    • Passes in relevant SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE/ GCE O-Level subjects.
    • NVTI Grade II or JHS Certificate with working experience.
  2. Certificate in Draughtmanship
  • JHS Certificate with working experience

ACCESS COURSE /PRE-HND PROGRAMME

The National Board for Professional and Technicians Examinations (NABPTEX) currently under the auspices of CTVET has designed an access course for Technical/Vocational Institute graduates into HND Programmes.

Note: Candidates would be required to obtain at least 50% in each of the three (3) subjects namely: English Language, Mathematics and Science.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Applicants must have a minimum of Craft Course. Or
  2. Applicants must have MET I, MVT I and EET I or its equivalent. Or
  • Applicants should have a minimum qualification of Intermediate or Craft Certificate or its equivalent from a recognized examinations body. With regards to Hospitality Management, applicants must have Cookery 812/2.

CERTIFICATE PROGRAMME IN SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES – 3 MONTHS (SATURDAYS ONLY)       

ENTRY REQUIREMENT

(i)  Applicants with a minimum of Junior High School Certificate

(ii) Mature Applicants must be at least twenty-five (25) years old and must have relevant working experience.

MODE OF APPLICATION

Applicants can only apply online via Koforidua Technical University online application portal. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Ghanaian Applicants for HND and Non-HND programmes are to make a payment of One Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH¢150.00) and B’Tech applicants are to make a payment of One Hundred and Sixty Ghana Cedis (GH₵160.00) for the Koforidua Technical University On-line Serial Numbers (OSN) E-Vouchers at any Fidelity Bank, Zenith Bank, Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) and Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) branches throughout the country.
  1. Foreign Applicants can purchase E-Vouchers online with Zenith Bank Global pay platform using any VISA Card enabled for online purchase at the cost of ($50.00)
  2. Applicants can also purchase admission voucher with Short Code by dialling *966*3*540# (All networks) and follow the procedure below:
  • Select the specific Form to purchase. (The name and the amount are displayed)
  • Enter Full Name of the Applicant
  • Enter Option 1 to proceed
  • Select payment option
  • Enter Option 1 to confirm payment or Option 2 to cancel payment
  • Authorize payment
  • A bill prompt or notification is sent to the applicant’s phone
  • The applicant is asked to enter PIN (this is the code applicant used in registering MM)
  • When a correct PIN is entered successfully, payment is deducted.
  • After a successful payment deduction, SERIAL NUMBER and PIN is sent to the applicant by SMS
  • Proceed to the next instruction (4.) after receipt of the e-Voucher
  1. Access the Online forms by visiting our online application portal at https://applyonline.ktu.edu.gh with the e-voucher.
  2. When completing the online forms, applicants will be required to upload their passport size photographs and result slips/certificates. Note: Photographs must be on a white background.
  3. Applicants awaiting results are eligible to apply.
