Is Distance Learning A Separate Degree?
No. Students admitted to a Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) degree program can take distance learning courses or on-campus courses, whichever best fit their lifestyle. You will be awarded the same degree as all other graduate students admitted to the Graduate Certificate, M.Sc programs.
What Academic Advising Services Are Available?
As a prospective Distance Learning student we have advisers who are available to help you meet your educational goals. They will review your academic background and help you plan your future course of study.
Are The Distance Degree Programmes In Idl Accredited?
All programmes run by IDL are accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NAB). The NAB can be contacted on 0302-946013 / 0307034465 or nabsec@nab.gov.gh
Can I Apply For A Degree Programme With Only My Wassce / Sssce Certificate?
Programmes that are run at IDL KNUST are TOP-UP degrees for HND certificate and other Diploma holders who want to upgrade to a degree. Some programmes are however open to SSSCE / WASSCE certificate holders. Please refer to http://www.knust.edu.gh/admissions/prospective/idl-top-up-admissions for more details.
How Do I Apply To Study By Distance?
Applications are strictly online. Online application e-Vouchers can be obtained at the following places: All IDL Centres, Ecobank, GCB, HFC Bank, UniBank and Fidelity Bank. E-Vouchers may be purchased by Bankers draft payable to Institute of Distance Learning (IDL).
Applicants Must Ensure That They Purchase Distance Learning Forms Not Regular School Forms To Avoid Complication
What Is The Admission Requirement For A Postgraduate Programme?
¨ A good first degree in any discipline
¨ Professional qualification
¨ Minimum of 2 years’ experience in senior management/ leadership position
¨ Satisfactory score in the programme Admission Test

What Is The Admission Requirement For Undergraduate Programme?
To gain admission to pursue an undergraduate or top-up programme in KNUST-IDL, you will need
¨ At least 5 (five) credits in GCE “O” Level, including English Language and Mathematics
¨ At least 6 (six) credits in SSSCE/WASSCE subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus three (electives) with an aggregate not exceeding 24.
Applicants with passes (i.e. D7 and E8) in English, Mathematics and Integrated Science, who completed their HND on or before 2010 can apply to go through a qualifying Pre-bridging (Access) Course.

What Sort Of Tutorial And Student Support Services Do Distance Learning Students Receive?
Distance Learning students have access to Facilitators and Programme Coordinators. Students also have access to the IDL Virtual Class (V-Class) through which they take part in discussions, receive support from the facilitators on individual modules and access feedback from tutors on assignments.
Do I Need An Id Card To Verify My Student Status?
YES, IDL will provide you with an ID card after registration. For further information please contact your Centre Coordinator.
Can I Drop A Course Or Courses Once I Have Registered?
YES. Fill a Change Of Course Form within a month of registration.
Do You Conduct Orientation For Fresh Students?
YES. At the beginning of each academic year, orientation is organized for fresh students. Students get to know more about the Institute as well as KNUST. Students are also introduced to their course of study, as they get to interact with some of their Lecturers and Facilitators. Orientations are held at Kumasi and Accra at the beginning of the academic year. In some cases, orientations take place at other designated centres. More information will be given before the scheduled date for orientation.

IDL KNUST offers a variety of programmes ranging from Undergraduate, Top-Up, Diploma and Post Graduate programmes.

How Does A Student Register?
Registration is done at the beginning of each semester. To register,
¨ Students are required to pay their fees before you can register.
¨ First year and continuing students are permitted to pay at least 60% and 50% respectively of their fees for the entire academic year to enable them register for the First Semester.
¨ The remaining amount, that is, balance of the fees, MUST be paid before registration can be done for the second semester.
¨ Payment of fees can be done at any of the following banks: ECOBANK, HFC BANK, MERCHANT BANK, GCB, FIDELITY BANK and UBA.
¨ After payment, students are to submit their Pay-In–Slips to their Centre for official KNUST receipt.
¨ First year students/Freshmen & women will be given their usernames and passwords by the University Information Technology Services (UITS) to enable them register their courses for the semester online.
¨ NOTE that, after payment of the required amount of fees, students will receive an email or an SMS which will give the details of username, password and website for registration purposes.
¨ Visit your Centre for assistance if you encounter any difficulty.
What Is The Duration Of Distance Programmes?
It depends. Top-up programmes lasts for two and half years. Postgraduate programmes spans for 2 years and specialized programmes lasts for a year.
