Dean of the Ghana Technology University (GTUC) Graduate School, honored at Africa Oil and Gas Summit

At the recently held Africa Oil and Gas Talent Summit for 2019, the Dean of the GTUC Graduate School, Dr. Ebenezer Malcalm, was honored for his contribution to Oil and Gas talent development in Africa. This year’s edition, which was held in Lagos, Nigeria, was themed, “Transforming people to human capital: The leadership imperative for Africa Oil and Gas”.

Primarily, the Summit focused on the utilization of technology solutions to drive the Oil and gas industry on the continent using the youth and the discussions centered on the placement of an emphasis on technology in a bid to create employment for skilled, young workers within the Oil and gas industry in Africa. The patron of the event was none other than His Excellency, Nana Akuffo Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana, and in attendance were a number of distinguished speakers including, Chief Timipre Sylva, the Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and Ajibola Ponnie, and the Keynote speaker for the summit, the Honorable Commissioner for the Ministry of Establishment, Training and Pensions within the Lagos State Government.

The Summit consisted of various panel and technical sessions, which broached contemporary topics such as Education and Training within the Oil and Gas sector, the “brain drain” crisis and an in-depth examination of the Oil life cycle. The Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Ebenezer Malcalm, has been involved with this initiative since 2017 and at this edition; he was honored and presented with a citation in appreciation of his outstanding contribution to the development of Oil and Gas talent in Africa. He was commended for his active role in terms of the development of the industry and was duly recognized for his endeavor in this regard.
