COLTEK of the University of Education (UEW) Implements Robust Measures, Fumigates Against COVID-19

The College of Technology Education, Kumasi (COLTEK) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has been fumigated as part of efforts to fight COVID-19 in the College.

COLTEK benefitted from the fumigation exercise under the auspices of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development through the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council and the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies recently carried out to combat the global pandemic of COVID-19 in the Ashanti Region.

An eight-member team led by the Kwadaso Municipal NADMO Director, Mr. Samuel Aboagye Ofori undertook the exercise to disinfect key areas of the College, including Halls of Residence, markets and the Principal’s Lodge.

Addressing authorities of the College, Mr.Samuel Aboagye Ofori, assured that the ‘Chlorine Powerful Disinfectant’ used for the exercise is harmless to human beings. He re-echoed the need for Ghanaians to respect and abide by the laid down protocols for fighting the Coronavirus pandemic so that the efforts and investments being made by the Government in that respect, would yield good returns to the entire nation, ultimately.

The Principal of COLTEK, Prof. Frederick K. Sarfo and the College Registrar, Mr. Michael Kofi Adu were both grateful to the Government and particularly, the Kwadaso Municipal Assembly for extending the exercise to COLTEK.

Prof. Sarfo, particularly, described the fumigation exercise as a fitting addition to all the efforts that the College has been committed to making since it became evident that COVID-19 cases had been recorded in the country.

He explained that COLTEK was already implementing very robust measures on campus to ensure that the College was free from the ravages of COVID-19.

Among them, he referred to efforts that had been made to swiftly improve conditions at the College Clinic in readiness for any eventuality.

He indicated Management’s provision of hand sanitisers and packs of Sante+ Medicated Wipes for all offices in the College as well as the positioning at vantage points on the campus, Veronica Buckets full of disinfectants with accompanying tissue papers for use by the College Community and all who visit the college to transact business.

“We have also splashed on the notice boards on the campus, the necessary information on COVID-19 for community sensitisation and making sure that staff observe to the letter, all Coronavirus prevention protocols that UEW Management, Government of Ghana (GoG) and World Health Organisation (WHO) have made public,” he said.
