As part of efforts by the Faculty of Applied Arts to whip up interest and imbue its members with the penchant for impactful research, the faculty in collaboration with the Directorate of Research, Innovation, Publication and Technology Transfer (DRIPT) has organised a day’s research forum to equip academic staff with the rudiments of research publication and collaboration.
The seminar which took place on Wednesday, 7th April 2021 at the University Auditorium, was well attended by the various Heads of Departments (HODs) and lecturers from the faculty.
Dr Nana Yaw Asabere, Director of RIPTT, who was also a facilitator explained that this forum for the faculty was within the broader framework of concretising the university’s mandate of excelling in applied research and technology transfer. He further added that the forum was also a sequel to similar ones organised for other faculties.
Mrs Vivian Biney Aidoo, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts, in her opening address thanked her team for the impressive attendance and entreated them to make the seminar an interactive one.
She decried the unflattering output of research in the faculty and encouraged members to collaborate in identifying and addressing pressing issues around them through research. She highlighted key strategies set by the faculty and measures put in place to attain them.
Research teams from the Fashion Design and Textiles, and Liberal Studies and Communication Technology Departments delivered presentations on their proposed projects from which faculty members present asked questions and contributed to enrich the proposed projects.
The forum, according to Mrs Biney-Aidoo, is one of several to keep the momentum and enhance research output in the faculty.
