Alumni Urged To Seeks Higher Heights To Impact Society UENR
The UENR Alumni Association has held its maiden annual congress in Sunyani under the theme “Out skirting the limits of tertiary Education; a step in transformational development” The congress sought to mobilize UENR Alumni for a strong front, engaged stakeholders on strategies to empower in out skirting the limits of higher education capacity and be able to contribute to the transformational development of the country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the special guest of honor for the occasion, who doubled as the Global President of the KNUST Alumni Association, Tek. Eunice Akosua Ofosua Amoako said the theme of the congress was meant to demonstrate the resolute determination of the young UENR Alumni Association to strategically marshal and focus the collective energies of all past students.
She urged the Alumni to be hardworking and take bold actions saying “solutions are nearer than we think, they are within our reach and within us. This will make us impact on the university and ultimately on our nation”. She said the Alumni also need to overcome numerous challenges confronting tertiary education in the country and young institution like UENR. She added that there was the need to establish an acclaimed front to ensure continuity in generating experts in energy and natural resources. Tek. Akosua ofosua Amoako said every institution was possible with collaboration, partnership, research and scholarship for studies.
New members were inducted into the Association by Dr. Simon Abugri (the Dean of Natural Resources). The Kontihene of Sunyani Traditional Council Nana Boa-Amponsem II, in a solidaritary message encouraged strong leadership so as to control established institutions. The Brong Ahafo Regional Director of Education Dr. Peter Attafuah, also added to the message by comparing the Association to an organism believing that will grow hence the need to be strong and up in-doing to await the future.
In support of the Association, an innovation fund of an amount of Two thousand Ghana Cedis was raised whereas donations and pledges were made by the dignitaries and Alumni present and away.
