12-year-old Viemens Nana Amisssah Bamfo is UG youngest student to enroll

Viemens Nana Amisssah Bamfo

Twelve year old Viemens Nana Amisssah Bamfo will be among the matriculants at this year’s Matriculation Ceremony for Distance Education (DE) students scheduled to be held this Saturday at the Accra City Campus.   Viemens, the fourth among five children, was born at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Viemens, who has been selected to deliver the “Expectations “ at the 2019 Matriculation Ceremony for DE Students, started his pre-school education at Mawuli International School at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana, founded by his grandfather, Mr. Anani Korba, a retired teacher.  He was home-taught thereafter by his father who took the proactive initiative to provide the family home-tuition himself in order not to allow financial circumstances to limit their future prospects.

Singlehandedly, his father is said to have developed Educational Modules covering Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics,; Essential World History and Geography; The Classical  Latin  Language to enhance  his children’s vocabulary development; modern languages of French & Spanish; Basic Computing Concepts and Keyboarding skills using information from WAEC, CAMBRIDGE, AND SAT Syllabuses.  The focus of the home-tuition, Viemens’ father argued, was to  provide his children with a strong functional Education in “STEM with Languages” to help them take advantage of the opportunities that the  21st century offers.

Viemens will be reading for a Diploma in Public Administration under the DE programme.

We wish Viemens the very best as he undertakes his studies here at the University of Ghana as a Distance Education student.
