Kumasi Nursing and Midwifery Training College was founded in 1957 by the Medical Mission Sisters of the Kumasi Church, NMTC has consistently maintained its identity as a Catholic institution to the present day. The college’s commitment to discipline and academic excellence is reflected in its motto: ‘Before you learn to care, you must care to learn.’[4] Currently, the school offers two Basic Diploma Programs, Nursing and midwifery. Affiliated to the second biggest health facility in the country, the college provides high standard theoretical and clinical coursework in all the aspects of diploma standard general nursing and midwifery. The activities of the institution is supervised by the Ministry of Education. The college now awards direct diploma Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery after students from the institution have successfully completed a three year training programme. The institution is accredited by the National Accreditation Board.The Nurses and Midwifery Council (NMC) is the main body that regulates the activities, curriculum and examination of the school. The Council’s mandate Is enshrined under section 4(1) of N.R.C.D 117.

Out of the nursing schools scattered across the country, many would be nurses and midwives prefer the KNMTC based on the many academic laurels the school has won for it self and the high level of discipline.

The college currently runs two streams of basic programs i.e. Registered Midwifery Programme and the Registered General Nursing Programme.

Overall Aggregate A cutoff aggregate score of Thirty Six (36) or better in six subjects, comprising A cutoff aggregate score of Twenty Four (24) or better in six subjects, comprising 3 Core and 3 Electives.
Core Subjects and Minimum Grades Credit (A1-C6) in three core subjects i.e English, Mathematics and Integrated Science. Credits (A-D) in three Core Subjects i.e English, Mathematics and Integrated Science..
